He is Risen! A message from the Grand Knight
Brother Knights and friends,
Happy Easter! Christ is risen, Alleluia!
As we enter into the Octave of the Easter Celebration, I wanted to first express how thankful I am to have celebrated the Triduum at our very own Catholic Student Center, with our awesome chaplain, Fr. Rob Walsh! Spending the 3 most sacred nights of the Church's Liturgical Year at our home was truly a blessing; culminating into a beautiful Vigil Liturgy in which we welcomed 4 young men into the Catholic Church! What a joy and gift it was to witness their Baptism.
It's my hope that you all were able to celebrate these days with your family and friends. As a council, thanks only to your prayers and His Grace through the Holy Spirit, we have been growing as men of faith and brotherhood. Many of our freshmen are stepping up to take on leadership roles, as our officers continue their example of strong faith lives in the spiritual battlefield that is our campus.
In the midst of the joy that is the Resurrection, we are also surrounded by the tragic deaths of terrorism in our world today. In this Year of Mercy, let us pray for peace in our world and for the opportunity to be valiant peacemakers in our own communities. God conquered death and sin, the Victory already belongs to Him, but remember that we are co-workers (1 Cor 3:9) in God's Kingdom and there is much work to be done!
With the Good Sir Academy (the Knight's Bible Study) starting every Friday at 3 PM, Knights Mass every second Sunday of the month, the Annual Pig Roast on April 30th, the semester is far from over. We continue to strive to be more perfect disciples of Christ, as we look to Mary for her faithfulness, to the saints for their courage, and to the Resurrection for His hope and joy.
Please continue to pray for me. Continue to pray for our council and be assured of our prayers for you! May you take the Easter joy wherever you go and may the Light of Christ guide you and your families!
Inaugural Date Auction is a Huge Success
The first ever Knights-sponsored CSC Date Auction was a resounding success, raising over $450 for Knights charities. The event featured 16 dates proposed by the Knights and other outstanding men of the CSC. Held on Saturday, February 20th, the auction was well attended and brought in $458 for the Little Sisters of the Poor in Washington DC and the Knights' Coats for Kids campaign. Said SK Jimmy Williams, it "blew away my expectations!" Most notably, the fine ladies who attended the auction and bid on the dates enjoyed themselves as well. "The date auction turned out to be a good time! The ladies appreciated the fun opportunities the Knights had available to bid on," said senior and CSC regular Biz Honeywell. Hopefully, the great success of this year's auction will pave the way for similar events in the future.
Mardi Gras Party Heralds Beginning of Lent
The Knights of Columbus took on this years Catholic Student Center Mardi Gras celebration. Knights arrived early to prepare copious pancakes, bacon, and sausage. The festivities included eating the traditional "baby cake," a game of musical chairs, and an ice cream eating contest. Congratulations to Courtney Martinazzi and Peter Fairbanks who won the musical chairs and ice cream eating contests respectively.
